What We Do

The Norfolk Towne Assembly promotes an understanding of Early American (1750 - 1830) music, dance, and social culture through research, public performance and other Living History interpretive activities.

To accomplish this the Norfolk Towne Assembly

  • Carries out research to further our knowledge.

  • Presents public and private performances of Early American Dance.

  • Provides workshops in attire, manners, social culture, non-military history, music, and dance of Early America.

  • Assists members to more fully understand and appreciate the social culture of the period so they can better portray it.

  • Continues to learn, share, and impart our knowledge to younger generations so that the history of the United States can be viewed in context.
